Roofs are the most exposed areas of a structure, especially in extreme weather conditions. The absence or inadequate waterproofing in these areas can lead to severe problems like leakages in cuttings and dampness in the parapet. The continuous exposure to climatic changes can cause wear and tear of the roof which in turn causes leakage and damage. Thus, it is important to avoid cracks in slab and waterproof it to prevent these problems. Furthermore, if there is a leaking tank on the top, it will be like adding salt to the wound.
Crack: RCC shrinks over a period of time causing crack in the roof. This paves a way for water infiltration into the structure.
Slope of the Roof: Leakage persists when there is not a proper slope for water drainage. A flat RCC slab laid to slope of 1 in 40 is good enough to drain the entire rainwater for regions with normal rainfall and 1 in 20 for regions with heavy rainfall.
Improper Maintenance: Improper maintenance can lead to water infiltration. Since water can’t run off, it seeps into the surface.
Excess moisture on the roof: If the moisture still persists after rain, dampness will develop over the roof resulting in leakage.
Corrosion:The steel bars used in RCC reacts with atmospheric oxygen and moisture leading to corrosion. This expanded steel pushes cement and plaster leads to them wearing off from the surface.
Ageing: As years goes by,roofing materials undergo wear and tear. The efficiency in keeping water away lowers due to age.
Whatever may be the reason, it is surely not good to have a leaky roof. Detecting and taking measures to prevent the leaky roof at the earliest can decrease your headache.
It’s time to resolve all water related problems in your structure. Choosing a trained or professional waterproofing expert is the first step in correcting your issues related to water leakage. Avoid trying to fix the problem by yourself. Otherwise, it may lead to the loss of money, time and can worsen the condition. Understand that, waterproofing failures can have serious effects on the safety, value and durability of the structure. Only a professional can handle all those things technically. They have their own way to inspect and rectify each and every problems.
So feel free to contact DAMSURE immediately if you face any emergencyThe advanced waterproofing technology used by DAMSURE helps your roof be water resistant for extended period.
Let’s have a look at our waterproofing technologies…
We are mainly concentrating on 3 types of applications.
Cementitious:Cementitious membranes are used for waterproofing wet rooms , water tanks and for exterior surface protection. For more durability and life span, it needs a protective coating. These products are probably easiest waterproofing materials to use. These coatings have good bonding to concrete and masonry due to their cementitious nature. POLYBOND, MAGNOFIX are the main products used for coating. They can also be used as primers. Above and beyond using it as a primer, MAGNOFIX can also be used to create decorative items like pots, fish tanks, flower vases etc...
Acrylic: This one is better than cementitious water proofing. It can be used in toilets, sunken portions, roofs, swimming pools, water tanks, asbestos roofs, terraces etc. These acrylics add waterproofing characteristics and properties to in-place materials. It has excellent adhesion to plastered cement and previously painted surfaces. FLEXCOAT 2K, DAMCOAT are our main products. They can be used on surfaces where sun exposure and weathering is low.
Polyurethane: This is the most expensive and latest technique. Out of the three, polyurethane is the best option. It is a polyurethane layer applied to the surface to prevent leakage and moisture infiltration and thereby protecting the surface from corrosion, weathering and other deteriorating processes. It is a single component modified polyurethane liquid applied coating that is composed of specially developed polymers. PU has excellent flexibility and bonding with concrete, breathing properties, water resistance, crack bridging properties and weathering durability.
